That is so overwhelming for kids. When they older they won't remember all the toys they only remember the time spent with the parents doing something fun. Like camping in the back yard in a $20 tent. Exploring in the woods gathering different treasures. Keep it simple, fun and using their imagination!

I too was poor growing up and we only got 1 gift. All of us were grateful for it. Hopefully they have a discussion about this because he's right there's no need to be over gifting. That's a bad habit you dont want to get into, is being impulsive with your spending. She's got a lot to learn still.

Instead of these toys that they’ll get bored with and forget about in one week, give them experiences instead, and I don’t mean Disney. Take them to our amazing national parks, to the mountains, somewhere special as a family. That’s what they’ll remember.
