Welcome back guys! Here’s my RAV4 Hybrid! No i didn’t get the 2026 Subaru Outback or the 2025 Toyota 4Runner, but I did think about them.

* My RAV4 actually ended up being a 2024 model year. 2025s are already being produced but since they’re 99% identical in most of the global markets to the previous 2022-2024 model years I opted to choose a Japan built example that met all of my desired criteria at invoice rather than a different one initially closer to MSRP. I will likely be referencing mine at least in video titles as a 2025 in efforts to provide more relevant information to those currently searching for 2025 testing and information. As well as updates that have happened in the past year since the 2024s first started coming out as a lot has hapoened in the car market in the past year. There are some minor differences between the RAV4s in each of our markets around the world, and this video is U.S. based but a large percentage of you watch from other countries so keep in mind regardless of year there’s minor difference and I will be focusing on the main points of this platform.

Congratulations. Very nice. I think you made a sound decision. And the silver & black is a great combo. Enjoy

As a previous Toyota hybrid owner, I drove both the 1st and 2nd generation Prius cars. Fuel economy will be better, you’ll have fun hyper-mile-ing your car, using the EV mode. Just a word of warning: You will be disappointed when you upgrade your tires to get more traction for the low rolling resistance tires that you now have will always be more fuel efficient than even the most fuel efficient winter-rated tires. Also, no matter how well programmed the electric rear motor assist is, like many non-Subaru AWD systems, it is a reactive rather than a proactive system that only kicks in after a loss of traction from the front wheels is perceived, but it saves fuel by not powering the rear wheels all the time. If you do a lot of short hops with your hybrid, oil changes will be critical for an issue with hybrids in general is slightly increased fuel dilution of the lubricating oil caused by decreased running of the engine when cold, but Toyota hybrids are known for longevity well over 300, 000 miles (I put on over 250, 000 miles on my hybrids many with just routine maintenance and tires). Finally, don’t obstruct the air intake for cooling the hybrid battery that is under the rear seat or it could overheat or suffer a premature death. In the future you might want to consider a hybrid Sienna minivan, fuel economy will be similar to the RAV4 but you can carry much more passengers and cargo, especially if the rear 3rd row is folded in the floor.

I almost got the Rav4 hybrid limited, but the outback wilderness checked more boxes for me.... Hope you enjoy your new car. My dad has had a 2017 Rav4 that he loves. zero issues.

Congrats on the new car! Look forward to your thoughts on it. Not the direction I thought you might be going so was a surprise. Solid choice.

Lucky you! My Rav4 XSE hybrid has been on order with my dealership for 2 months now. I don't like the ordering process. I tell the dealer what package and accessories I want, then wait until the dealer receives a Rav4 that meets my requirement. Then there are also other people ahead of me waiting for their Rav4. So it could take a long time before I get the Rav4 configured the way I want.
I was seriously considering a Subaru, either the Forester or Outback. But I live in California with high gas prices, and the price is expected to increase significantly next year. Subaru doesn't have the fuel economy I need, especially city driving. But I like everything else about those cars. Enjoy your new Rav4 hybrid!

I personally have a 06 2.4l(yes the oil burner, but it's not as bad as others reported) with 236k on it. 4wd. I just installed the Northwoods 2" lift and it's one of my favorite "economy" vehicles I've ever owned. Only wish was that it was offered in a manual. A manual can always make a boring car fun. But the lift on mine helps and it's been beat on and lived a heck of a life. It's been on 2 continents and in 8 countries(per the previous military owner). It's got a story and that was a selling point for me.

Enjoy your RAV4. They do as well as they can offroad for not having a 2 speed T-case.

I knew it! Subaru needs more choices in their drive train offerings. No HEV or PHEV vehicles and turbos in only their most expensive models ain’t enough these days.

Nice ride! Right off the bat, I’ll bet you’re loving going from the giant tablet to actual physical HVAC controls!

I am in Australia and knew how good it was in 2020. Ordered my 2WD top spec Hybrid, & had to wait a whole year for it to arrive from Japan in mid 2022. Amazingly it is so popular that the Japanese factory had trouble trying to keep up.

Congratulations on your new Rav4! Nothing like a new car. Bullet proof reliability, very good ergonomics, spacious to name a few. Now you have two competitors in your garage, the Forester and Rav4. I wonder which one you'll like/prefer more. I almost forgot, are HVAC abd radio controls physical/manual? Does it have heated seats and steering wheel?

Congrats. I want a rav4. But at 6'2" I'm nervous of headroom with only 37 inches of headroom.

Did you run the vin to make sure it’s a 2025?

Toyota press release said the 2025 doesn’t have the blue Toyota emblem or hybrid badge anymore. It has the new Camry hybrid badge.

Will be. interesting to see maintenance cost and reliability . II have concerns with fluid changes and what the Manuel says vs most. mechanics .

I have a question.
Since you only generally keep your vehicles until the warranty expires, why not just lease them?
The interest is a tax deduction.
Trump has said that he’s going to bring back where people can start using the interest as a tax deduction when you buy a vehicle, but until then you can use the interest deduction for a leased vehicle.
No judgement, just a question and a thought.

Nice vid and car!

On a side note: in the video test driving the xle rav4 hybrid model, you said that it can tow 3500 lbs. That figure is for the trd off road rav4 with the transmission cooler. The hybrid version can only tow 1500 -1750 lbs and, should not be exceeded, by warning of the car care nut.

Hope you have a wonderful evening. God bless you.
