Homeowner Finds Stranger Hiding in Her Son’s Room

An Oregon homeowner found an intruder hiding in her son’s bedroom. A stranger broke into Kelsey Smith's house in Portland and proceeded to lie down on her son's bed next to a pile of clothes. At first, Smith doesn’t notice the intruder as she enters her son's room, but when she approaches the bed, Smith sees him and tells her friend she’s on the phone with about the stranger. The intruder then picks up an ottoman, throws it at Smith and flees the home.

They "declined to press charges"? DA reeks of incompetence. Not only did the woman trespass on the property, she also "charged" at the homeowner. Or should we just forget all about that? Someone should definitely try that at a DA's home, I doubt the DA then would _decline_ to press charges.

The district attorney should be fired, for neglect of duties. That woman attempted to assault the homeowner after breaking in. It doesn't matter if the door was unlocked. If we let people like this get away with things like this, we're in trouble.

same thing happened to me, i woke up at 6 am to a woman standing right next to my bed staring at me. the cops took her away, yes, she was there long enough for cops to come and there was no violence, but they declined to press charges against her. i have seen her wandering around town since. its a very unnerving feeling.
