Hey! Are you a fuji photographer that came to the comment section to tell me how a phone can never compete with a real camera? Cool! I agree with you!
Have you come here to tell me that one of the most important parts of this camera is the shooting experience? Cool I agree with you!
The only time I mention the phone is purely for convenience and portability. I've known far too many people to buy an x100 (or several Fujis for that matter) thinking it would inspire them to shoot more, and it didn't. The camera sits at home on the closet.
I also know people who bought a fuji camera and it *did* inspire them to shoot more! Thats awesome!
But some of you fuji shooters need to relax a little bit, just because I said iPhone doesn't mean I actually think its a superior tool, it just might be a superior use of your money if you're a casual shooter and don't have thousands of spare dollars lying around.

Hello, nice video but I think you missed the point of the x100v (or x100f).
I understand your opinion when you say that people can use their smartphone and get really good shots, and for a vast majority of casual photographers it's true.

But for people who are into photography as a hobby and a little bit more (semi professionnals for example), the x100 series fills the gap between the portability of smartphones and the possibilities that offer greater sensors (APS C in this case). I'm not even speaking of RAW shooting which is almost mandatory in order to do photo editing.
So, indeed, the x100v is expensive, but I really prefer having a cheap smartphone in the left jean pocket and an excellent camera in the right jean pocket.
About the XT4, once again, I think that you can't compare both : yes the XT4 is more versatile, but a lens on it results in a bigger camera at the end that you can not put into your jean pocket. And that's the use case of the x100 series IMO.

An expensive use case, sure, on that we can agree :p

The sensor in a phone is incredibly small compared to the sensor in the X100V. Although they do a pretty good job sometimes, the portrait mode on a phone seems to always have trouble with the edges of a subject, especially hair. It is $1, 399.00 in the U.S. I bought one today even though I have had a X100F since 2017. The LCD screen is a lot sharper than the previous models. Some of my best photos have been taken with the X100F and it makes you want to go shoot. Another Canadian Youtuber recently did a video that was shot entirely on the iPhone 11 Pro. It looked great but everything was in focus. There is just so much more you can do with a camera as opposed to a phone. There have been plenty of photos that I reluctantly took with my phone. I bought a Ricoh GRiii awhile back and it is often in my pocket. Phones have their place but it is not a tool for professional photography.

My phone is in and out of my pocket all day and the lens covers smeared with finger grease most of the time which makes backlit shooting a nightmare. Give me a dedicated camera every time for anything I might print. Which makes the X100V a great pocketable alternative to the other Fujifilm bodies. Plus everyone forgets the leaf shutter. You can’t buy a modern used Hassey lens for the price of this camera, and if you want to experiment with the benefits of a leaf shutter for portraits or other fill flash scenarios, this is an awesome way to do it. But if you’re trying to run and gun to keep your Instagram feed full, no, not the camera for the job.

Thing is, I'm perfectly fine with paying $1500 for a camera. But I'm absolutely not fine with paying more than $200 for a phone. Because the literal only use I have for my phone is Whatsapp. Movies? YouTube? Web browsing? I've got a tablet, a laptop and a desktop for that. Taking notes? Drawing? I have a pen for that.
When I see my phone lying on my desk I might think 'Should I call or text someone?' but never 'I want to go out and take some photos.' I mean, it could be that I only think that way because we still call them phones... They're communications devices and every other feature on them will always feel sort of gimmicky to me.

That intro was so extra and I love it. Also, Patrick is making the rounds!

True story- I was shooting some editorial feature stuff in Oakland, CA with my most-beloved Leica M9-P, when a guy on a FatBike rolled by and shouted, "Hey! Sweet Fuji X100!!!"

An IPhone will never inspire me to shoot any “real pictures“ other than snapchat/ instagram filters

It's a tiny aps-c camera with an f2 lens. That's pretty handy if you are trying to document your experiences.

The x100 series is my favorite series of digital cameras. Will definitely be buying this for the weather sealing (with filter), great video quality for occasional videos, better optics, autofocus and the tilt screen. Smartphones really aren’t there for street photography.

I’ve tried each generation of iPhone for street photos but even the iPhone 11 Pro photos look like they’re phone pictures, simply due to the small sensor and cheaper optics.

Either this camera is for you or it isn't. I love the X100 concept. It's what I want from a camera. Shooting, not three hours of button smashing and menu chasing. This is a killer camera. It's the first time I've ever wanted to upgrade my X100S. If you don't want to buy one, it says more about you and what you want from photography than it does about this camera.

I own the X100T and I love it. I am fully aware that there are options that might be "better", but it is just a camera that offers me a very enjoyable experience. Since photography is a hobby for me, I believe experience comes before practicality (which is very unusal for me). Also, despite the fact that phone cameras are amazing today, there are still certain applications where a phone just cannot keep up. They are few, but they are still there. ;-) (quick action in bad light, flash photography, actual bokeh and not some ai rendered stuff)
