In this episode I mess around with the SpaceX Interplanetary Transportation System mod which adds into the game all the parts needed to make the ITS system Elon Musk wishes to send to Mars.

There are some points I think I should clarify however:
1. Typing any of ITS, SpaceX or Thrimm in the searchbox brings all the parts to view.
2. It is obviously overpowered for stock game, because all of the stats are exactly the same as their real counterparts (existing or planned). Config files that are in the development are for Realism Overhaul (mainly for real fuels), but if someone wanted to use the mod in RSS with FAR and RealHeat, but without RO, the ship would already have realistic performance.
3. Tweaks for stock game will probably come, because a lot of people are asking for it.
4. Gridfins are basically stock control surfaces (like tailfins) and stock airbrakes married together. Both modules can be deployed, so 'Deploy' deploys the control surface, and 'Deploy Airbrake' deploys the gridfins outwards.
5. Solar panels do look a bit odd, but that's what was in the presentation and I wanted to mirror all of the details shown there in my mod.

The booster first stage is suppose to land back at the landing site. So that extra fuel you've got that brings you to Duna, normaly you save for your return trip

The solar panel is based on the actual design from Elon musk don't knock mark for making it as close to exact as possible he has good videos of him making the mod and deserves credit for spending so much time for a beautiful needed mod

I think I know your problem with the grid fins. When you click on them, there's TWO deploy options. They double as air brakes and control fins correct? Well control fins and air brakes have a deploy option; and given the order of the buttons in the part options, I'd say the top one is to deploy them outwards, and the bottom one in another direction.

You should do a modded colony build using this, and see how massive of a colony you can build before the game completely flips its shite.

i think they said that the crew module gets refueld in orbit about 4 or 5 times before it can go to mars. thats insane! but you probably cant put any extra fuel in anyways becouse of all the people and cargo that are inside.

The gridfin right click menu has two deploy buttons one at the bottom of the list (the one you were clicking) and one like two-three down from the top. Just thought I'd say it to you as it confused me for awhile too!

It would be nicer if they launched the fuel tank before the crew, making the trip shorter.

If you download mechjeb, it has landing guidance which tends to work 90% of the time, you set a target and it’ll do the suicide burn for you, saving you the hundreds of attempts running out of fuel on descent

I tried flying this thing and i got to the mun and back with just about 0 fuel left. No way i'm skilled enough to get this thing to duna.

On the upside though i landed on the mun at a speed of less than 5/ms.

And then i dumped the transport in the ocean to be picked up.
