Great video! As a student of French, I always wondered why the French language is so much harder and more confusing than Spanish, considering that they're both Romance/Latin languages and France and Spain are right next to one another geographically. (Also, I think Spanish is definitely the closest to Classical Latin out of the two.) It's interesting to see how the individual histories of nations are reflected in their respective languages.

¡Muy interesante tu vídeo!
I think you did quite a good summary of the languages in Spain and how Spanish became what it is now today. I would like to add that in the territories of Southern Iberia ruled by different muslim rulers, we could say the population spoke two languages :arabic and mozarabic. This second language developed from Latin like Spanish, but was heavily influenced by Arabic, spoken by the elite. In fact, it is believed that many of those loanwards that you mention came from mozarabic, and not directly Arabic. This language was named after the Christian population of these territories, who were in the position of either maintaining their christian roots or adopt the vibrant and hectic innovations of Al-Andalus.

Mucha suerte y... ¡Viva el español y el inglés!
