【Pls look at the top comment first】This video is made in memory of the late artist, David Cassidy (12th April, 1950 - 21st November, 2017). For most nostalgic hearts, David Cassidy was an influential name in music world and on screen. As a singer, songwriter, guitarist and actor, his talents were obvious to all while his legendary life was full of ups and downs. All through his past lifetime, David Cassidy achieved good fame and high popularity in his 48-year career, but lost something valuable in his personal life.

In music world, Cassidy was undoubtedly a young talent whose debut was recorded in 1971 at the age of 21. But before his music career as a solo singer started, Cassidy had played various roles as an on-screen idol with the first TV series he came out in 1968. Among his filmography, he was best known for the role as Keith Partridge, the son of Shirley Partridge in the 1970s musical-sitcom "The Partridge Family". This role catapulted Cassidy to teen idol status as a superstar pop singer of the 1970s.

The early albums from David Cassidy that were released during 1970s featured classic pop gem like most old school releases, but they were truly popular among fans who were born in 1940s and 1950s and grew up with these traditional classic pop songs in their youth. Moreover, music from such a super idol was always unforgetable. Since 1980s, the golden era for music thriving, with the development of adult contemporary reaching its peak, music sounds much fresher and even more splendid. Those following records of David Cassidy until his early 1990s releases are welcome by more fans, who are called 1980s dreamers.

He can do well in classic pop and rock. For aor lovers, this self-titled album is very precious to cherish. Released in 1990 by Enigma Records, this can be considered as the only album that Cassidy played and co-wrote melodic rock for fans. From this album, Cassidy wrote 8 songs of all the 10 works with other talented songwriters like Sue Shifrin, Rick Neigher, Michael Dan Ehmig, Mark Spiro and Mike Reno. Also, he had a 25-year marriage from 1991 to 2016 with Sue Shifrin, who is David Cassidy's third wife as well as a Grammy nominated songwriter. To convey his rock spirit and display how he was appropriate to be a rockman, a strong studio team joined this project to complete album recording, including Jeff Baxter and Michael Landau on guitars; Mark Free, Michael Thompson, Mark Spiro and Freddy Curci on backing vocals as well as more professional musicians on backing vocals, guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and saxophone.

Compared to those early years in his twenties, the voice of David Cassidy when he was 40 in this album sounds much deeper and even resonant in some of the tracks like this one "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams", my personal favourite as well as one of the most underrated from this album, written by David Cassidy and Sue Shifrin. One single from the album is "Lyin' To Myself" with a music video for promotion, which features Cassidy waiting in the terminal of New York's Grand Central Station. This song was the first top-30 hit for Cassidy in his past 18 years as a solo artist.

Besides, "Labor Of Love", "You Remember Me", "Livin' Without You", "Stranger In Your Heart", "Prisoner" and "All Because Of You" are all aor gems written in the mainstream style of melodic rock. David Cassidy performed a series of concerts in 1990 to support this album. Based on such a strong line-up, this album seems to have nothing to do with all his former and following works, truly impressive. Generally, this album is underrated among all his records as his music route covered classic pop, folk and even smooth jazz. Melodic rock was not usually noted in his living years. Anyway, this self-titled release is always the most amazing one to be kept in collection, because it is rare from a deceased celebrity.
