When I decided to write about my rich life experiences as a woman alone, living in Costa Rica, I came across this book. I loved it for all the reasons discussed in this video. Some years later, I went back to school. The renowned creative writing program at the University of Montana was challenging. What I’d learned from William Zinsser’s book On Writing Well was key in my achievement of straight A’s at age sixty five!

Good advice that’s ageless. Better communication skills are so valuable when anyone and everyone can spread their own message to all corners

You sold me on this book. Excellent recap!

Great book. Read it last decade. Most people I've worked with, even graduates and highly paid managers, let themselves down by sloppy writing. Run-on sentences and other poor punctuation are the most common faults.

I just subbed too. Excellent presentation, no fancy video editing just pure, quality content. Now I have the extra motivation to read this book that has been sitting on my shelf for more than a year.

It's a great book. I've read it twice and will probably re-read it again when I need inspiration. It's aimed at non-fiction writers, but anyone can benefit from his advice.

I read this book around 1980. I heard about it from _The Next Whole Earth Catalog._ It definitely improved my writing and I still think about it now and then.

Really like how you explained and justified your enthusiasm for this book. Made me want to read it!
Agree with you about American writing (in general). Far too many clunkers are published where the book would have benefited from having 100-200 pages cut.

The Sense of Style by Steven Pinker is also very good.

Excellent book, read it years ago; now have the latest version. Is there an audio version anywhere that's not abridged? Amazon / Audible are short abridged version, thanks. (5:18 "they have no character . . ., " that makes so much sense !)

What if that person was indeed a pompous ass but when he meets people like most of us he puts on an act?
So when writing then you should aim to hide your true character unless you know you’re likeable?
