» THE GOLDEN TEMPLE
LOCATION: Golden Temple Rd, Atta Mandi, Katra Ahluwalia, Amritsar
OPEN: 24 hours/day, 7 days/week

The Golden Temple is a Gurdwara, a place of worship for Sikhs, located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. The Golden Temple is the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism and considered to be spiritually the most significant shrine in Sikhism. Along with being a central religious place for Sikhs, it is a symbol of human brotherhood and equality, as people from all faiths, as well as those who do not profess any faith, are welcomed.

The Golden Temple is home to a Langar, a community-run free kitchen and dining hall where food is served around the clock to all visitors, regardless of faith, gender, nationality or economic background. There are thousands of Sikh volunteers cooking and serving the food as well as cleaning after visitors finish eating. Each day, thousands of people from varied backgrounds come to The Golden Temple, sit on the floor and eat together as equals. All of the food served is vegetarian.

🥒ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but currently call Vietnam home. I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. People either enjoyed my undeniable charm or enjoyed watching me eat things like coconut worms, and thus Best Ever Food Review Show came to be.

I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer. If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Don’t forget to subscribe to Best Ever Food Review Show, so we can connect through food and travel and become Bestys!

my house burnt down 4 years back in NY. I was a student and was :P broke. GuruDwara helped us and basically helped us with food. What else I can say but bow down to their generosity :).

I live about a five minute walk from a Sikh temple, they have always been great neighbours. When the pandemic started and a lot of people lost their jobs, the temple started cooking free meals for anyone who needed or wanted it, all day every day. I have a lot of respect and admiration for them.

I am a Hindu and an Indian. I have been to Amritsar and to other gurudwaras. There is so much to learn from the Sikh community. The Sikhs are truly secular. I wish the whole of India was like this.

I'm a Sri Lankan🇱🇰 Buddhist, we also do this in Vesak and Poson, but I can't imagine the effort they put to do this everyday
Respect for the Sikh community, I also want to visit this temple one day

Being an Indian and a sikh. It feels good to see someone showing this true side of India rather than portraying it as a poor country with tons of problems...

This teaching is very important, it doesn’t matter the title/labels we have, we should always help and give. Spread the love and kindness.

I have never met a Sikh that is not nice. For the last ten years when my wife catches a taxi home she looks for the 2 local Sikh drivers. They stay in driveway until she is safely inside the house and carry shopping as well. No other drivers do that. I have also had the pleasure of working with dozens. all nice people.

Holy cow. Why is the world so different from this generosity? No one would have hunger if we all be a little more like that
