I kinda understand the subscription. It is a live service after all, but I do think they should give the option to keep buying any of the new features (like buying expansion packs) for people who just don't want to subscribe.

I only wish they would release some sort of roadmap for what updates they are planning for this year. Right now it's like buying a cat in a bag.
You pay upfront for a whole year and you may get five cool new features every month, or you may get one unnecessary feature every six months. Right know we have no way of knowing which it will be.

the realistic color mixer is HUGELY overlooked by many!!! Only Rebelle 5 could do it and it's really a huge step imho.

I've used CSP EX since it was still named Manga Studio and all I can say is that I'm really disappointed by 2.0. I was expecting a major rework of the software to optimize it for high end hardware because it desperately needed that; instead they just held off adding new gimmicky features for a few months then released them all at once to justify the version bump, but in essence it's the same 10+ year old program... The silver lining though is that I discovered Krita and I'm in awe, I'm slowly using it more and more until eventually it fully replaces CSP EX in my workflow.

Liquify mulitple layers sounds great! I remember before the main problem for me was they did not have good kerning, which made it unusable for comics (if you care about typography). If they fixed that, I'm happy.

If you use it to letter comics the text wrapping update will make life so much easier and has been a long time coming. Most of the other features are neat. But the wrapping was worth the price to upgrade. I'm holding off on the update pass until I see some game changer features roll out.

I bought the perpetual license because a good chunk of these features are already showing themselves to be very useful. Also as an owner of an ipad who uses CSP when away from home it is likely in the future I may subscribe to their dual plan as it means both the PC and ipad are up to date.

I am definetly one who did a negative takes on my channel. My main issue is the perpetual model really being an annual upgrade now for one fee. The sub model (update pass) on top of it to get incremental feature updates is where I lost it. Usually, any software you get, comes with the features of that annual release, e.g., 2.1, 2.2. Clip changed the language after the backlash to call then feature "previews." Ironically enough, if you want all the features, at least at this point, the update pass is the cheapest option because you blow right past the perpetual versions. So for professionals, if you are going to pay anyway, you might as well get the update pass and be done with it. The drawback is, if you stop paying, they roll you back to the last perpetual update you got. Just to be clear, I would have paid a one-time fee for an annual model with all features. Its that double dip that got me. Still undecided as to what Im going to do.

If you're already paying the subscription on the ipad/Android, you do get the V2 update automatically without any extra charges, which is nice! I assume that's likely gonna be the case for the rest of the Update Pass for ipad/Android.

Though, I just wish that if they *really* had to go down this route, they could've at least merged the subscription for both the Android/iPad access and the Update Pass on PC ver because so far it seems like you still have to pay both separately which is :/

I like CSP and use it daily as a professional illustrator and in my animation pipeline
but this isn't really an update worth calling 2.0.
just some gimmicks added while there are core issues with the program - an underwhelming text tool (it seposed to be for comics!), the lack of scrubbing for animation, and a 2.5D

the realistic mixing is nice and the warp text and alignment are essential (and so basic)
but it's not enough reason for me to feel I need the upgrade and try to understand the confusing pricing system

If i'm not mistaken, it's a one off payment for a perpetual licence upgrade from v1 to v2, but after that upgrade, you get 2.1 2.2 2.3 etc up until 3.0, which then requires another payment to upgrade from 2.0 to 3.0. Or if you would like to upgrade from v1 (perpetual) to v2 (subscription), then you can buy the update pass which you pay annually for all future upgrades.

The hand thing alone is worth it to me!! I am...okay...at drawing hands. But sometimes it does take me several tries to get the look I'm going for. To be able to simply put my hand in that position and get a reference at whatever angle I want? Wow!

I wish someone could make a cheap app that can do these things with the 3D models, such as mapping the hands and making the model look the same as your hand, like how ToonSquid was made to be a cheap app for 2D rig animators.

I just want a decent text tool...
And auto-align elements to their borders and centers when dragging.

I went ahead and upgraded my copy to version 2 today but I'm going to wait a little bit to see what other features they're planning for it in the future before I go all in on a subscription

love your videos... hate that clip studio paint keeps having android version on annual subscription yet windows version is possible to do one time purchase.

Liquify multiple layers at once is worth the upgrade price on its own! I've been dying to have this feature since they first showed us liquify.

What is sweet about this upgrade: Most everything (that shading assistant and hand camera thing look simply awesome)
What isn't: For us longtime CSP owners, not be eligible for any further 2.x upgrades sans subscription. They botched it badly in here and I still resent it.

This said the 1.x EX upgrade is like 40 bucks at current sale price... oh well.
