RAT on the New York subway!

A usually boring Monday morning commute to work at Brooklyn was stirred up by this little guy. He joined us at the Fulton street station on the A train going downtown. Someone getting off the train was screaming "RAT on the train!". But by the time everyone realized what was happening, the doors closed and the train entered the tunnel. We were stuck with him till the other end.

And for a brief, shining moment, a group of complete strangers forgot their differences and were brought together in an act of solidarity...against a rat.

I'm surprised at the reaction. You see rats all of the time on the NYC subway, although admittedly it is rare for one to actually get on a train. You see them on the station on the tracks, and although they usually crawl under the platforms, sometimes you'll see one scurrying across the platform itself.

You'll find rats in every city, regardless of how clean it is or how much is done to attempt to control their population.
