Do you know the syllable chin trick? #shorts #youtubeshorts

Do you know the syllable chin trick yet?? I hadn’t seen it before so I was *really excited* when @createinkinder shared this little tip with me.👏
Research has shown that it’s important for students to be able to hear word parts including syllables.
Elephant has 3 syllables:
El-e-phant
Rainbow has 2:
Rain-bow
You can stomp words, clap words and tap words, but you can also do this…
Help kids FEEL the syllables in words by having them stick a finger on their chin and then count the taps.
Note: The original version of this activity has kids place their finger directly on their chin but, for some reason, that didn’t work as well for my kiddos as putting their finger *underneath* their chin. It’s worth playing around with it to find the spot that’s the best fit for your students.
Bonus tip: Looking in a little handheld mirror while you say each word helps kiddos SEE the syllables too!
