I have been using the Minelab Equinox for more than a year. This video communicates this metal detector's strengths and weaknesses. It is my 1 year review.
Hello, my name is Merrill Kazanjian and I am a metal detectorist. This is a teaching channel where you will learn metal detecting techniques and gain knowledge. My channel, Metal Detecting NYC is a good place to learn metal detecting 101 on youtube.

I'm an old White's, never going to change guy. You flipped me today. Ordered the 800 as prices are getting cheaper with the coming of the Manticore. Got a lot of vid's of yours to catch up on. Your the best wealth of knowledge I've come across on YouTube. Thanks for sharing your passion with like minds.

I've been metal detecting for 3 years in the UK with a Nox 800. I am at a point where I discovered your channel, as I am thinking about changing to a Deus II or Manticore. I don't usually watch US channels anymore, as I didn't feel they were so aligned. Different money, lack of history, compared to the UK etc, BUT I felt urged to comment on your channel. Absolutely hooked. I love your humour, NO BS approach and I genuinely think that your experience may lead me to a decision. Based on your love of the Equinox. I'm now wondering if I should learn it better, before shedding out the $2, 356 (in the rip off UK) for a Manticore. If you know of a US company that'll ship, let me know. Approached a few, but none ship
Thanks for a great channel

Thanks Merrill for sharing your wealth of metal detecting knowledge with us. Your passion for teaching especially shined through in this video. I'm sure glad that the equinox is your favorite detector, as it is my machine of choice to swing. I can truly say that your videos have made me a better detectorist with the equinox. Your videos and your videos alone played a major part in me buying an equinox. So if your wondering if anyone out there is paying attention to what you are not only saying but teaching, we are. My sincerest thanks to you friend!!!

I have the Nox 600 and I learned everything I know from you and Vermont Derek. You guys are spot on, honest and a blast to follow. Thanks!

Fine video, thank you. Just got a ML600. Had a Vanquish 540.
What puzzles me are the shafts. The more expensive Equinox uses the same clunky push pin shaft as a $99 Bounty Hunter. And the less expensive Vanquish uses an easy to adjust camlock shaft and contracts to a very small size.

Hey dude, I bought my Equinox 800 today for prospecting in CA. I'm an amateur prospector whose had a few good finds. This is my first detector and after watching your review I feel confident I made the right move. Thank you for taking the time to put this together, I got a lot of good information. I wish you nothing but luck and success! Have my subscription 👍

Thank You for your time and work on all the detectors tested and the ventures that are good learning materials for those who watch the videos.

*Merill, you took the words right out of my mouth on the Equinox detector. I thought the exact same thing before I got my Nox 600. Since I live in south Texas, I'm not doing any gold prospecting for small nuggets, just dirt fishin' and beach hunting. Been happy with it. Great video Sir. Have a great day.*

Watching from Australia, one of your best videos for information. I have been using the 800 for almost two years and still learning new tricks. Last month in a small beach town got 70 rings.

Park 2 and Beach 1 on the Pro 👍. I sure admire your enthusiasm.
It took me 9 months on that simple machine to begin to realize how advanced Minelab has become. And still learning. I got the 800 out to see how well I did with the Pro on low conductors. Hard to imagine doing better but
testing and retesting is the only way to know. Thanks for your informative videos.

Just wanted to tell you thanks for all the info. Love your videos. I like the straight forward talk. Easy to understand what you're talking about. Again THANK YOU!!! I just got a new equinox 800 three days ago. That night we got 9" of snow.

Another great video Merrill, lots of great advice! Two things I would point out to you is, using an external battery pack may cause damage if you get it wet. Secondly, if you return to the same spot multiple times, and dig every single signal, the much deeper targets can be had; it's hard work, but I've seen your detecting efforts, and you can do it!
