Grandpa Marsh has Alzheimer's Disease, which causes him to lose his memory from time to time. This is probably one of the saddest parts of South Park.

"I can't remember what she looked like, Billy."
It felt like a butcher knife went straight through my heart when he said that

You would think that it would all tie together into a joke at the end, but they were seriously trying to give the Grandpa character more depth.

How is it possible that South Park made me cry? How?!

This carries so much more weight when you've had a family member with Alzheimer's.

This episode felt personal for Matt and Trey for some reason, like they've roasted people, said harsh things, and really went after groups, but the "Do it" Stan says on the phone to the scammers and a surprisingly hard-hitting emotional moment like this. This episode just had a different tone.

Before Simpsons had the most sentimental messages now southpark are the ones that are teaching life lessons and such.

I’ve just lost my dog to cancer and this bit has been stuck in my head on a loop. I’ve taken a lot of pictures of him in the last few months and collected all the old ones I could find. He was my best friend and ultimate companion. I wouldn’t change him for the world. RIP Colonel Woofbag

My grandfather had Dementia and couldn't remember what my grandmothers face looked like, there wasn't many photos' of her due to her being afraid of cameras' but my Father had a one photo of her, we showed it to my grandpa and he said "By god she was more beautiful than a Sunset" two months later on their anniversary he passed away in his sleep and he was smiling because he finally gets to see his Beloved again.

This episode is probably my favorite, you have the humor of the episode which is what you expect from South Park, but its this scene that makes it memorable, they took somthing that had been joked about many times and actually said he had dementia and he was just trying to help, and make his family happy, it also shows how this affects family's, I doubt you came for my opinion but I'm in tears.

You know, one day we're all going to be like this man. And when that day comes, only the people around us can help you feel better

Stan may have gotten his dad’s craziness but he also has his mom’s loyalty.

This video is only 50 seconds long and I'm literally sobbing😢. This scene hurts every time

I was waiting for Patches to show up and maul Grandpa Marsh to death or drag him off the park bench and into the bushes or something. A nice end was the last thing I expected.

Goddamit Grandpa Marsh.

I'm not crying. I don't know what you're talking about.

South park is like "yeah, that guy killed someone by shitting into his face" and then in between add these scenes and dialogue that went through your heart like a hot knife in a butter

This is why South Park will always be the best IMO. Under the silly humour and offensive jokes. Every character can make us feel a strong emotional connection to us. Here we felt like grandpa Marsh was our grandad. Our hearts were truly aching when he said he couldn’t remember what the dog looked like. And some of us got a little happy tear when he got the picture.
