Swami Sarvapriyananda teaches Verses 3-6 from the Thirteenth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. This series of talks unfolds the highest truths of Vedanta through the study of "The Song of God".

🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 13 Verse 3:
तत्क्षेत्रं यच्च यादृक्च यद्विकारि यतश्च यत् |
स च यो यत्प्रभावश्च तत्समासेन मे शृणु || 3I|
tat kṣhetraṁ yach cha yādṛik cha yad-vikāri yataśh cha yat
sa cha yo yat-prabhāvaśh cha tat samāsena me śhṛiṇu || 3I|

🔴 Hear from Me in brief what the Ksetra is, of what nature it is, what its modifications are, and from what causes what effects have sprung. Also know who the Ksetrajna is and what his powers consist in.

🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 13 Verse 4:
ऋषिभिर्बहुधा गीतं छन्दोभिर्विविधै: पृथक् |
ब्रह्मसूत्रपदैश्चैव हेतुमद्भिर्विनिश्चितै: || 4 ||
ṛiṣhibhir bahudhā gītaṁ chhandobhir vividhaiḥ pṛithak
brahma-sūtra-padaiśh chaiva hetumadbhir viniśhchitaiḥ || 4 ||

🔴 In many and different ways have the Rishis sung about this subject in metres of varying description. The well-reasoned and definitive aphorisms of the Brahma-sutras too have discussed it.

🔆 Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 13 Verses 5 -6:
mahā-bhūtāny ahankāro buddhir avyaktam eva cha
indriyāṇi daśhaikaṁ cha pañcha chendriya-gocharāḥ || 5||
ichchhā dveṣhaḥ sukhaṁ duḥkhaṁ saṅghātaśh chetanā dhṛitiḥ
etat kṣhetraṁ samāsena sa-vikāram udāhṛitam || 6||

🔴 The five great elements, the I-sense, the intellect, and the Unmanifested (Root Matter); the ten organs along with the mind as the eleventh, and the five objects of the senses; desire, hatred, pleasure and pain; the body, consciousness, and will -such is a brief description of the Ksetra with all its modifications.

When I first heard that the body is like a field, my first thought was that this was referring to a field like an electromagnetic field, or a gravitational field, and I actually found that to be incredibly helpful. Because a field in and of itself is empty and has no objective divisions or attributes within itself that could distinguish it from another field, until there is apparent manifestation within the field. There is no limit to a field, no edge, no shape or size per se. For me it is helpful to consider, for instance, the visual field as a whole. Everything that I see is just the visual field appearing in a certain way, but the field itself is one continuous totality without any discrete objects within it. It is just the mind/thought which designates certain aspects of the field as being objectively, independent existing objects. I am the knower of the field, and cannot be found within the field, for anything I see within the field is just the field, of which I am the knower. The field is always whole, complete, regardless of if the eyes are open or closed. If a new "object" emerges into the field, the field is no bigger than it was prior to it's appearance. If an "object" leaves the visual field, the field is entirely unaffected. Without any appearances within the visual field, there is nothing to distinguish the visual field from the auditory, gustatory, olfactory, tactile or thinking fields. I am the knower of all fields, not to be contained or limited by any of them. They depend entirely on me, not I on them, for they are appearances of myself during the waking/dream state, and dissolve into me in deep sleep, the ever present background and reality.

Just something I wanted to share on here. Namaste Swami - I am forever grateful for your wisdom and guidance 🙏🏻

I can’t believe swami said pumpkin spice latte: this isn’t a joke they found ammonia in the pumpkin spice to coloring: Starbucks is being sued : a woman started a class action or she is just suing them and it’s turning into a class action . This is not a joke.
Peace
