most "survival" games chuck evil monsters at you to distract you from the basic survival mechanics. In The Long Dark, Mother nature is just constantly taking a piss on you. It's very refreshing.

Nothing quite compares to staggering through a blizzard in pitch darkness and hearing the growl of a bear and then sprinting into a pack of wolves as you try to escape. 10/10, highly recommend

This game is a must have been playing for 2 years with 2000+ hrs in game, this game will teach you about greed, impatience, bad planning, this is now a Survival, Simulation, Sandbox RPG
life lesson game. I challenge anyone, I don't care how good you are to play Interloper, not a hack and slash, and button combo press Parkour game, this is immersion itself,
and with the polished artwork for launch my expectation have been exceeded. I wouldn't care how much the game cost I would get it, I think I spent 15 dollars in beta,
I say I feel guilty that I only paid that much!! Everyone has their game preferences, but after 35 years of gaming, this is the game I have been waiting for, a great simulation,
that feels very personal when you play, and oh you forgot PERMADEATH makes all the difference,

I know it’s been 3 years so you won’t see this but, I love the fact that the devs can take the long dark and put any type of event in it, because the games basically realistic, we can believe a lot more that goes into it, so something like a guy with a chainsaw chasing you in say… the evil within, we don’t believe that to be a scary encounter because it’s expected in a game like the evil within, but if the long dark did the same thing, with the addition of the weather effects and sounds that are already in the game, we could legitimately believe that to be a scary encounter and thus it would hit so much harder.

The long dark has this eire feeling about it, it isn’t scary but I can believe there’s something in the fog. I almost feel like the long dark allows us to fear the ultimate fear, The Unknown. Maybe there isn’t a monster running aside you in a white out snow storm, but you can’t disprove it. It’s cool. It’s a really well thought out game, I hope to see much more from the devs and more events akin to the October event.

I just jumped into it, and i have had some of the most visceral, nail-biting experiences from this game. Its a tough play but very rewarding.

I bought The Long Dark a year and a half ago,
And when the story mode finally got released I literally cried.
