These vocals were not written to be performed live!

I am a believer in writing songs that fit the voice of the singer and that they’ll be able to reproduce on a stage. This, however, is not the case for everyone it seems. Today we watch a compilation of UNREALISTICALLY hard vocals that were not written with the singers in mind. We listen and compare studio and live takes from such artists as Mariah Carey, Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello & MORE. Enjoy!

Whenever some says singers “play safe” in concerts, I just remember how much Perrie Edwards (Little mix) destroyed her voice during last tour because she sang every single note high or even higher than original... I don’t mind if they dodge them as long as they show now and then they actually sang them in the original. Tours are really harsh on singer both mentally and physically... and after years of singing and yelling... let them have healthy voices

I destroyed my vocal chords when I was 13 doing theatre, playing a lead role that was made for someone with a much higher range than I had. I was never trained to do it safely and you can tell my chords are messed up. I can sing, then all of a sudden I can't. So I will never blame a singer for messing up or protecting there vocals, night after night of doing concerts.

When demi actually said that she did so many takes to do that note, and even before performing it she said that she can’t do it live since it probably gives her anxiety cause it’s too high

Can you imagine how frustrating it would be if you were singing live and everyone kept saying you were lipping everything? And then your worst performance ever they say.... oh finally it’s live. 😂😂😂

When they're live they are also jumping around dancing, and have to sing several days in a row with these shows it would have to be exhausting especially on their voice. There's no way they can hit each of those note every time live. Sure, they could be written easier, but I believe we should change our mindsets that studio and live will always be different. Studio is "perfection" of the song while live is getting the experience of the singer, spectacle, with the songs. Also, after 8+ years the strain on a singers voice of course they're not going to hold long notes or hit high notes. Sure, they mess up, but seems harsh considering some of the conditions that could be under.

People also have to realize, when you're moving around a lot it's hard to keep your breathing support. If that's gone, then the notes are gone...

Fly Like a Bird was actually written by Mariah herself! She wrote the hardest song even for herself😂

I appreciate how often Demi goes for the notes, even if she's a little iffy about whether it will come out or not. She's gutsy!

I think what also affects their singing is age. Those songs were made when they were young with healthy vocal cords and as time has moved, they aren't the same as they were 10/20 years ago

This reminds me of when I saw Panic! at the disco and Brendon was just going wild with ad libs. But instead of failing and dodging he just went higher and we all lost our shit. Good times.

The thing that gets me about these channels that say "oh look, a decade later they can't sing the song anymore!" is do they not realize that the human voice changes as you get older?

I remember back in the Fifth Harmony era that fans kept criticizing Camila for changing the songs of improvising ad-libs during covers. I always thought It added a special thought. Now that Rommie said it, I know its true. Good musicians can improvise on the spot and make it sound good. And Camila never sings a song the same way as before, not even her own.
