how to make virgin coconut oil in your home, coconut oil for thyroid, pcos, skin and hair care. urukku velichenna/ventha velichenna, homemade coconut oil.
Notes: select mature coconuts. It is best to make in small quantities. Keep the oil away from sunlight.
If you do not have the cookware I used, then the next best option would be an iron kadai/pan or a steel but make sure the kadai/pan is heavy bottomed.
Once you switch off the flame, the coconut residue will again cook and color will change, so it is best to remove the oil with a ladle as soon as you turn off the heat. If making in large quantities keep in coloured bottle preferably red colour bottle.
you can use this oil in salads, curries, turmeric tea etc. Do check the video links listed below to understand more about the health benefits of coconut.

After messaging you I continued to keep it on slow fire. The residue turned golden brown and oil started oozing out. But not much. My coconut is from my garden n it belongs to Andaman coconut variety.
Thank you. I will strain n use it.

Years ago I had watched a friend's mom one morning make fresh coconut oil for cooking the day's meal! But I had forgotten the procedure. Thanks for your video, will make this myself now to use on hair and for cooking. New to your channel, liked and subscribed :)

Thanks Chechi!

When you extract oil from Copara (dried coconut kernel) it is regular, and when you extract from fresh coconut milk it is virgin coconut oil...i think

Thanks for the recipe. I made pure coconut oil by following your recipe and the result was pure, transparent oil with a slight coconut fragrance. 😁

Thank you for making the video very crisp giving importance to the value of time of the viewers. Better to add hot water for squeezing out the coconut milk. In the traditional method of kerala, the scrapped coconut will be boiled before squeezing out milk and hence called ventha velichenna .. you may verify with very old family members.

Really nice video. The coconut milk looks yummy at 1:35. I want to consume it. Does the coconut milk has the same benefits as the coconut oil at the end?
