Learn how to play the basic tumbao rhythm in this video lesson. It is a great Afro-Cuban pattern to practice after you have learned the basic sounds of the conga drum as shown in the previous online class.

These lessons are so great. Highly recommended to beginners. I already knew most of this stuff, but I have still learned so much because you give such a good overview of everything from technique to the history and evolution of the patterns, common mistakes and the importance of context and listening. Knowing the rules and when to break them. Excellent teacher.

I wish I would have found this channel before, yet I'm glad I finally found it. For the Conga chops AND the Salsa chops. Stoked to polish my Boricua basics. Jajajaja

The melody he's playing with these 3 congas sounds great 😎👍🏾

This video brings simple fire to thawing Germany! I am just sitting here, waiting for the right time that neighbors won't complain about the nighttime dumping and seek to try out what you show here. Fantastic, you bring so much passion and it is refreshing to get all your spirit when everyone here around is still freezing. Thank you so much!

I started doing or taking the conga lessons from you years ago a few years ago I really like the way they sound and you play them so well and your drums sound so good I watched some condos at the guitar store and they are not anywhere near the caliber of yours and even though I tried to play them and I can tune them different pitches they don’t really sound I would not play these in front of people you know that’s what happens when you’re just a guy who likes music and type Congers how nice so I bought them I had some money to burn they weren’t that expensive they look nice but they’re not full-size either so anyway I hope you’re still out there doing this I really enjoyed your lessons

I hope you have the opportunity to look at this comment because I want to tell you that you are one of the best conga teachers I have found. Your instructions are clear and, for me, counting out the rhythm really helps. I have also learned a lot of variations of the tumbao both from your instruction and just by watching you play. I would say my playing has improved a lot by watching you and I hope you have the chance to make more videos. Thanks for such great instruction

Thank you so much. I am a high school band director and want to add more latin music in my jazz ensembles. This is invaluable for my learning so I can teach my students better. Thank you!

This is literally the first thing you need to learn on congas this is extremely important to know because it is the most used beat in Latin music
