During that first part of October the weather is usually dry, drying up and drier! Any signs of rain appearing after September 1st I've positioned everything ready to go immediately before rain arrives. Yes it's hit & miss sometimes tho without the moisture seeds will not germinate. Having the area ready for seeds by plowing & going over it with a field cultivator or Do-All to level & eliminate any grass or weeds just starting to root. Spread the seeds by broadcasting which needs a light discing to cover the seeds or a hard rain can cover the seeds enough to germinate. Lightly covering the seeds is paramount to the seeds performance and growth into a healthy plant and without being covered the seeds may produce half the plant it could've. The best method is seeding with Grain Drill Planter before a rain.
Mustard can be broadcast before a rain & do okay tho Turnips that produce more than just a leaf the seed must be placed in the ground for the
germination and growth to occur correctly. Turnips not firmly in the ground will not grow correctly, the seeds must be in the ground for the plant to grow straight & round.
Gotta have water for germination watvh that weather forecast & be ready to plant!
