Hello, friends! Welcome back to my channel One Blessed Mess for this video about how I schedule out our homeschool day! We have more of a loose rhythm to our day as opposed to something super structured, utilizing block scheduling in a way that makes our days flexible & free. I will also show you how I write down all of our lessons in my Plum Paper planner!

If you are new here, hi and welcome! I'm Christie, and I'm a 3rd year homeschooling mom to 5 kids (ages 10, 9, 7, 2, and 8 months!) My husband and I pulled our kids out of public school, moved to our new house in the country, and haven't looked back! I love sharing my (authentic + honest) journey with you all, and hope you will join me as we navigate our footing in the world of homeschooling!

That looks like an awesome way to plan the homeschool day

I wanted a Anna Vance planner. But price wise I couldn't get one this year. Her work is well worth the price. I had 4 kids in school but two passed recently. So we just have 2. My son is between kinder and first. His biggest struggle is learning to read. The sudden deaths of his brothers took a toll on him. My yongest is 4 and is preschooling. Your handwriting is beautiful.

That planner! 😍😍 Love that it's customizable. Also a great way to keep track of what you do during the week. 💕💕

Yay for the morning basket! My favorite part of the school day is family subjects. I created a weekly spread sheet for weeks we school. This includes lessons, subjects each child will work on as well as breaks for holidays etc. We school year round and have four day weeks so I never feel bad if we don’t get through lessons on a tough week. Also, if we work ahead then it gives more breathing room for those tougher weeks. Thanks for sharing! Always encouraging!

It’s a lot to homeschool multiple ages! This year I have 7 kids to school officially!

Love your ways to organize it all!

Random but your handwriting is so pretty! I love how you laid out this planner! It's so much simpler than how I did mine.

My 8-yo daughter & I have a loose routine. Like you, I have an 8-mo son, and I find trying to make things happen exactly when I want them to happen to be a recipe for frustration!

I love the Plum Paper Planner. I was a public school teacher until May and always used it. Now I'm homeschooling and using it! I like your layout a little better than what I did for this year. oops! haha

I ordered my first Plum Planner a couple days ago. So excited! I didn’t see a teacher homeschool option. I ordered the ME style which looks almost the same as yours I believe. I added on sections: homeschool, budget, prayer, meal planning, and checklists. I only have one child, so I listed the subjects down the sides, but replaced the subject names with verbs- Treasure (morning basket), Solve (math), Worship (Bible), Express (L.A.), Experiment (science), Explore (history/geography), and Immerse (reading). The to-do on the side was replaced with achieve, and I labeled the notes box- share. I also added some protector sheets.

For planning, I’ll have a list of things I want to accomplish each day of the week (M-TH) and will record what we did after completion (reverse planning I guess). I don’t declare specific times. We just go through the list of to-dos until finished.

We are very loose routine type and do reverse planning too. We are changing it up a little by doing a binder with the weeks work already ready to go. Taking a bit of the minimum viable day stuff and if we get more done that’s great but it’ll also help my son seeing an end to the weeks lessons versus seeing a large book of everything not done which I think overwhelmed him even though I’d say it was only this page/ lesson. Good luck and we’ll wishes for a great school year!

Thanks for this schedule video! I’m going to do a similar schedule and it helped me know I’m on the right track. This will be our second year homeschooling. Instead of MFW, we use GR for family subjects!

Thank you so much for another helpful video. For me, a very visual person who’s only on my second year of homeschool, actually *seeing* how someone does things on paper, is just so helpful!!

Couple of questions, what about the rest of life as it pertains to your planner? Where do you write errands, projects, chores, birthdays, play dates, etc, .?

Also, when you say family units and that you’re using my fathers world, do you mean for all your other subjects- geography, science, art, history etc, .? I’ve heard so many mamas use words like “looping” and “family subjects” but I’m not sure if it’s their family subjects (the science, history, geography ) that they’re looping??? Also I don’t know how to loop 🥴🤣🤦🏽‍♀️. I’ve heard many people describe it but it would be so helpful to see what that looks like all laid out in a planner.

Anyways, aside from allll of my questions, I’m so thankful for your videos. You are a breath of fresh air and you help encourage me that maybe I can figure this all out and someday be a confident homeschool mama who actually feels like I know what I’m doing 🤣.

Grateful you chose to document this journey. It’s a huge blessing to others. ♥️

Last year I followed a very strict schedule. This year, I think mine will look very similar to yours: morning basket, individual, followed by family subjects after lunch. I was trying to cram everything in the morning, but with a 5th, 3rd, 1st and prek this year, I just want to relax and enjoy it. Last year I had a certain time for math, la, etc., maybe having the big kids do their independent, while I start with the little 2 would work better vs separating math and la... thanks for sharing!

We do the same! We follow a daily rhythm (starting around 9) and I reverse plan!
