I’ll go first:
I’m Christina. I’m married to my best friend, Seth, we have 5 kids (ages 2, 3, 6, 10, & 14), and love our family, Jesus, and adventuring together.

We are passionate about being counter culture, including alternatives to traditional schooling. I have experience as a public school teacher, private school teacher, and homeschool mom!

I love the Charlotte Mason education approach, and many others, but I’d say we are more of an eclectic homeschool—mixing the different aspects of homeschool styles that we love—living books, literature-based learning, Montessori, nature study, and so much more!

Thank you so much. I really needed this. I began homeschooling last year and have loved your vlog. When it comes to long term for my kids I just struggle with detail planning. I've been worried about fitting everything in or missing something because I don't have my entire year mapped out ahead of time. Its comforting to know I'm not the only one in this boat. Your homeschool style is similar to mine, exept not doing it all year round.We love summer time off(we still do some maths and reading).With planning, I write what we do on a daily basis not planning in advance.I set up some goals and choose the resourses and we work at children s pace.

This is super helpful! I am trying to loosen our flow a bit, but I am super type A and need some sort of plan for it to fit my personality. This might just work for me to both be flexible, but also have a sense of direction. We are taking a break in a week and I just might give this method a try when we start back up the following week.

With Nature Study Club, do you do all the studies or do you pick and choose? Trying to figure this out for our family and how to weave it in beautifully with what we are already doing. ❤️

I’m so stressed about our first year homeschooling our 5 year old. Sent in our letter of intent and had a plan set but the coordinator wasn’t fully accepting our plan so now I’m back at square one figuring out a curriculum that best suits our family and is also in our budget ( military messed up his pay so he isn’t getting what he should be payed) Worst part is we have 10 days to figure this all out. Husband is deployed so it’s all on me to figure this out while also caring for a 1 year old, 4 year old and 5 year old. Super stressed. 😩

Here’s a question though: as a NY homeschooling mom, don’t they require you to list curriculum & plans ahead? I am nervous about this part because of the feeling of restriction associated with that. I want to do year-round homeschooling (if we do it eventually) with that gentle, easy flow you describe, so how do you submit the IHIP & assessments required, like that?

How many units do you do at a time? I am doing 2 right now and its a little overwhelming. I'm doing one 4 days a week and the other 2 days a week. So only one day a week we do both units. Do you have any tips on making it less overwhelming? Ive been homeschooling for 3 years now but still feel like I havent found our rhythm yet. I only have 2 kids. I'm in awe of mamas like you that have a whole crew!
