After a few hours of searching for someone able to replicate this sound- I've found it. Spectacular! Thank you so much- now I can fix this noise that has plagued me for... more time than I want to admit...

Another possible cause of this sort of noise is if a small stone gets stuck in the gap between the shield and rotor

Me trying to convince myself it's not the cv axle...

I just got my new (to me) corolla and it does this when turning left.
I know my way around cars but never would I have thought about the dust cover scraping as I thought it would be audible independent from steering angle.
I'm gonna have a look at the cover tomorrow. If it is the issue you saved me like 3h of driving to the dealership and back.

Perfect video: short and straight to the point. I like that!

Update: It really was the dust cover. I owe you one my dude

Hahaha, it was so funny, after watching this I went to my car and reached in to feel the dust cover behind the brake rotor to see if it was bent or damaged somewhere. When I tried to pull the bottom of the dust cover away a little bit, a small rock fell out! Drove the car forward and back and the noise is gone!! So happy it wasn't anything like damage or anything major that would cost a lot to fix. Also super happy I didn't have to take the wheel off or even get under the car! I never would have known to check this way if it wasn't for this video, so thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much. My car has been driving me crazy. This is the exact sound I hear when I turn right to park. Thank you

I had this exact problem, had convinced myself it was a wheel bearing. But the noise just wasn’t right. Until I saw your video and you had the exact noise I had. Checked my dust cover and sure enough it was bent inwards and in the perfect position to run when I had my wheel cranked for a hard turn. Pushed it out and away from the rotor and bingo fixed!!

I started hearing this same noise and was just about calling the workshop but decided to look this up. Luckily I found your video and went to check, I saw this same situation. Thank you so much for making this video.

You're a genius! Heard this sound upon driving my JUST PURCHASED, used Prius into my neighborhood. I'll be taking it back Monday morning to get it fixed! Thanks again!

Thank you! I was trying to find a shop to help me with this today. Glad I found your video! My issue is the same as yours and I fixed it myself. You saved me some money.

Thank you! I had the exact same noise and the exact same problem. It was harder to get the tire off than to fix the issue. Thanks for the info on the dust shield. It was easy enough to straighten with a pair of pliers. If you are reading these comments because you have the same issue and are at all handy, I recommend that you look into this yourself.

Yeah, exact same noise and exact same problem, and exact same trick fixed it!
I was thinking about driving 200km to my mechanic, you saved my day.
Thank you!

Thank you! This video helped me so much. Turns out the edges of the rotors had corroded and were rubbing against the shield. I bent the shield slightly and also removed the corrosion on the edges of the discs/rotors.

Thank you so much for making this video if I wouldn't have stumbled across it who knows how long it would've taken me to figure out what was wrong.
