Are we just going to ignore the fact that this same dude fought in ww2 and after his friend got shot he got so angry that he grabbed a bag of grenades entered the German held town in the Netherlands and with a sten in one hand and tossing grenades with the other he caused so much chaos that the Germans thought they where under a full scale attack and retreated… man really did capture a town all on his own

Yeah, Major was a FUCKING BADASS! And, like any Canadian, he was pretty humble about it. Hell, his wife didn’t know about what he did in Zwolle until 25 years later when a resident of Zwolle showed up at his door and invited him and his wife to a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the liberation of Zwolle.

2 PPCLI was an entire battalion of badasses. At Kapyong in April 1951 they made a last stand at Hill 677 after being surround ed by a Chinese division. Fighting off repeated assaults, they twice called down artillery barrages on their own positions when overrun. They still held the hill when morning came.
The battalion was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, the only Canadian unit so honoured.

Note: The men he took with him were handpicked by him from the guys he trained which was one of the conditions he demanded for actually accepting the mission… the others being that he wanted each of the men that went with him to get one week permission… and that the beer be on the arm of the Canadian Armed Forces. He also got another Distinguished Conduct Medal from this operation, making him one of the three soldiers in the entire British Commonwealth to receive a DCM in two different war.

Leo Major is also one of only 3 British Commonwealth soldiers to win a DCM (Distinguished Conduct Medal) in 2 different wars. He won his first in 1945 (WW2)
