Was watching this game. Our whole neighbourhood came out into the street screaming after we won. Just an awesome game and awesome time of my life in Newcastle.
I was talking to Robbie O Davis about this game only a couple of months ago. Ran into him one night in Newcastle. He was a bit surprised when I told him I actually met him in 1993 when he first came to Newcastle. He worked as a drink machine delivery driver on the side in his early days with club. Nice bloke

WOW, remember watching this, as I lived most of my life in Newcastle. I was living in Sydney, and I never expected the Knights to beat Manly, and I literally had tears in my eyes.

I said to my wife, ' Do you want to go to Newcastle'', she said, '' I can't, I am working tomorrow''. I then said, '' do you mind if I go for a few days'' and I did, and there were literally people dancing in the streets from the Northern part of the Central coast, all the way to Newcastle.

Most thrilling end to any game of Rugby League ever. In my opinion, the 1997 GF stands with the 1989 GF and the 2015 GF as the three greatest Grand Finals of all time. There have been some classics (1991, 2003, 2004, 2016 and 2023 come to mind) but nothing comes close to the top 3. And the commentary of Rabs as Albert ran through.... goosebumps.
