Maine is the most heavily forested state in America. The North Maine Woods is millions of acres of adventure birding. Nobody up here but a few loggers and sportsmen...and an amazing number of birds. Northern forest birds include boreal chickadee, spruce grouse, black-backed woodpecker, American three-toed woodpecker, and Canada jay.

I love that you call them “babies”. Beautiful area. We ran into a migrating swarm of nighthawks up in that direction this summer. Hope to get back.

Nice shots of singing birds! Here in the mountain forests of western NC, I never see Veerys (Veeries?) in an open treetop. We’re on year one of our state’s Atlas. Lots of fun!

Great footage! I’ve been working on the gulf of maine seabird working group this summer, it’s great to see what it’s going on inland!

Bob, love the videos! Keep up the amazing work. What month is best for birding the north Maine woods, looking for most variety?
