Birding northern Maine without DYING.

Birding the North Maine Woods can be awesome in winter, if you can survive it. Find hundreds of pine grosbeaks, evening grosbeaks, pine siskins, common redpolls, purple finches, white-winged crossbills, and red crossbills. Discover black-backed woodpeckers, boreal chickadees, Canada jays, and spruce grouse. But beware. Mother Nature may try to kill you.

I had to put on a sweater just to watch this video! Good job putting out some cold, hard facts about northern ME.

Clayton Lake! - Population - Only Bob right now. Wow - just when I thought I'd seen you do it all. I'm not sure who to nominate this year for Maine winter outdoor enthusiast - you or Joe Holland. Great rig setup.

A sense of humor is even more important than a good filed guide while birding I the frozen north and Bob has one of those! Excellent video!

beautiful (except for the logging truck passing by you so fast) and educational. I wonder if the logging company maintains the roads and I wonder how you are able to drive on that without chains and I wonder if the Lynx dine much on the so interesting

I know it’s probably too early for another video but I thought I should check and make sure the plan to wake the bear didn’t turn into a “dinner plan” if ya know what I mean.

Great video Bob! Will the next video include the Common Ringed Plover?

I've been to Clayton Lake in September and it was beautiful but a bit chilly. Where I live in mid-coast Maine there seem to be an excess of house finches this winter. I always enjoy your birding videos from up north.
