This has been my small wave work horse. It loves the barrels.. but you need large fins! Medium fins can slipp out on the critical bottom drop turn if you pump it to hard. Large jjf fins fixed this immediately.

I have the eps
I ride it as a twin only no trailer with the MR
Its the best set for the eps
I’ve done most combos of fins
Super fun board
Love it !!

Another spot on review. I’m 87kg as well had the 5’10 PU and sold it soon after. Felt good but missed the small wave feeling I get on something like a eps spinetek rocket wide.

Nice one WooIy! I ride this board 90% of the time. Its a sick little weapon that grovels similar to a fish but performs better in the pocket. I ordered a custom swallow tail and ride it as a quad.

What would you recommend Phoenix EPS or Firewire Dominator 2 for 1 to 4 foot beach breaks?

You need to dig this back out and give it ago as a 2+1 it such a good board as a 2+1 in small waves.

Love your style and flow on this board

Thanks for the review. I understand this is a performance small wave board for surfing in the pocket. Would you say it also grovels well in really small 1 to 2’?

Hey mate,
You said u prefer epoxy for the groveller, wondering if you think the Monsta Box in epoxy would be better than PU? Im looking at getting a monsta 2020 for good waves and Monsta Box 2020 for everyday sessions.

Cheers mate.

Wooly I'm about same same height/weight as you...wondering what you thought about volume/length after your surfs. If you were to buy the eps version, would you stick with 5'10" (35L) or go up to 5'11" (36.5L). I can't decide, thanks a huge

Hey Wooly . Awesome reviews! I really love my Phoenix for up to head high. Best board I’ve had for east coast where I am and bought it based on your review which was spot on. I have it at 36.5L and I’m over 50 intermediate at 85kg.
Looking for a good step up from the phoenix in overhead but generally flat faced waves . Any thoughts ? Thanks . Brad

What would you choose for 1-2ft average waves.

JS psycho nitro HYFI, or the
DHD Phoenix EPS ?

I’m looking for something that’s gonna get me out there it’s deemed basically unsurfable haha 😂

Great review.. Love how you only speak to what you experienced. How did the fins work out for you?

Nice reviews mate. I have a Raging Bull in 6.2 for decent waves and looking for a groveller from 0 to 3 or 4 foot. I was consider a 5.10 bullseye but also considering the phoenix, rocket wide squash or psycho nitro. What do you reckon for groveller with an amount of versatility?
