Hey Slimes, I know it’s quite late to catch the train for Phoenix, but I’m thinking of getting a PU with a swallow tail, (1) have you had any feedback about this model with the swallow? (2) I’m a bigger surfer (6ft, 88kg), but I’m not into going really wide, so I’m thinking of ordering a custom 5’8.5”x 19.38 x 2 9/16, how do you think it will go narrower? (3) do you think it will matter that I am riding it at my HPSB volume of 31L, since DH says to ride it 1.0L more? I thought given your store sells a lot of boards you might have had experience with the variables I have mentioned. Cheers

I have this in the 5.6 I could have gone 5.5 but always happy with the extra size in this. Must have large fins in this for critical drops. It has been my 2/3 foot barrel work horse. Love it. Only criticism I find it difficult to send it full virt on the back hand. But that just me and because the waves are small.

Thank you for this awsome review. I had some questions that maybe you can answere me. I’m looking for a groveler with most of a short board feeling. I also have a monsta box 5’9 27l for better surf days. Will the phoenix complete my quiver? Or should I look for something more “groveler” like a pjhp?

what fins did you use and are the fins set further back than standard on these? thanks

Yeah because you only weight 70kg. Like me when I was 12. For heavier guys DH has stupidly widened the boards to 22.5 to 23 inches nearly. Ridiculous. Not a performance board at all once you get it over 5'10". These shapers have to wake up to thickness, not extra wideness. Why they can only cater to light guys is anyone's guess.
