Imagine losing your nationality and even being deported if you don't have papers to corroborate your heritage. Some four million people are facing that very scenario in the north-eastern Indian state of Assam, which borders Bangladesh. Indian authorities want people there to prove they were already in the country before Bangladesh's war of independence in 1971. Critics say the policy discriminates against the region's Muslim minority. Our correspondents report.
