Thank you for this!! I’ve been wanting to sew a dress from the 1810s, but some of the ones I’ve seen reveal so much cleavage (which is already a problem as a woman with a bigger chest). It’s refreshing to a reference with the same style and historicity of the decade but with more modesty!

Modesty isn't how much is covered. It's how much you can relate in love with one another. It's not sticking out like a religious Pharisee but wearing what's appropriate for every season. I don't like this video. It lies about what modesty actually is. Would you call a know it all, narcissitic person modest just cause they cover more than you? What about covering the feet? There's lots of feet fetishes, and what about covering the head, some people say hair is too tempting for men. It drives me crazy how people are so religious, and so prickly, but they're covered, so that makes them good? I thought the point of modesty was to love your neighbor, and that by not being shocking so that you can relate better and fit in with normal society. Jesus never dressed different. Israel dressed in Egyptian's revealing clothing for their whole journey through the wilderness. Saying I'm modest now, and sticking out, is actually immodest to do. Just fit in, love God, and be a sweet witness where people love to be around you like they loved to be around Jesus.
