“19th Annual Dr. Richard S. Wolf Lectureship: A Window into a Black Box: Understanding
Professional Identity Formation in Your Learners (and doing something about it)”
Target Audience
This activity is targeted toward all general pediatric physicians and pediatric subspecialists in the community.
Statement of Need
Pediatric grand rounds provide physicians a continuous update on emerging trends in caring for the pediatric patient, including new scientific discoveries that provide the underpinning of current pediatric practice. This activity will inform physicians about other issues involving professionalism, socioeconomic issues, and topics related to the ACMGE core competencies.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe fundamentals of Professional Identity Formation (PIF).
2. Utilize strategies for determining where a learner is on the PIF trajectory.
3. Actively promote PIF of learners of all levels in the clinical learning environment.
