MMB Max CarPlay Android 10 AI Box Adapter Review

This is MMB‘s current flagship AI box for Carplay systems which offers a faster chipset, a re-designed UI, featuring lots of additional functionality and visuals, as well as the usual 4G SIM and SD card support, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto support, and the use of Android Apps such as YouTube and Netflix on your CarPlay display.

It took me many months to bring this review to you. I had to wait months for a software update that would fix wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and due to continued instabilities, I also had to have a second adapter sent over to me.

My time with the MMB Max wasn’t that great. The one thing it has going for it is its user interface, which is one the best out there, but sadly its hardware limits its potential with below-average performance in app launching and general CPU and GPU benchmarking.

What's the better AI Box for Wireless Android Auto when I decide to use it (rarely I do) and possibly less lag on phone calls. I had a carlinkit tbox AR with the dash cam but wireless AA is hot trash and crashes every 5 seconds.

Thanks for great videos. Please give me honest recommendation. I use factory CarPlay on my Audi q5 2019. Because there is still no jailbreak for iPhones and I can’t install cartridge which device you bought if mostly time used CarPlay but sometimes you wanted to watch YouTube. money don’t play here big role please give your best suggestion. I want fastest, not laggy and ect. You tested a lot of them so I think you really know what is best currently in market. Big thank in advance!!❤❤

So would this MMB be not as good as carlinkit Tbox plus for playing music videos all the time on youtube music/youtube? And, can you connect more than one device via bluetooth simultaneously? Or, which one would you recommend more for wanting speed, multi BT devices connected simultaneously, music quality, ?

Hello.i have the mmb max 4.0 and the same car screen as yours from vw. Although i have android phone it boots as carplay and i cant control the phonecalls from the steering wheel.any advice? Thank yoy

Would be good if these boxes had some kind of boot up PIN code or similar. Otherwise if it gets stolen then presumably someone else will get access to your logged in services - such as email?

Hey Anthony, I just got a car that has wireless CarPlay built in (along with wired CarPlay). I use this AI box, but it says ‘please check whether confirmation is required’ and obviously without being able to see the interface, I’m not able to confirm. Do you know if any of these AI boxes are capable or working with stock Wireless CarPlay? Or if there is a way of getting my headunit to display the AI box?

When you are swiping through the screens it sure seems slow and jittery. I feel like these adapters just aren’t ready for prime time yet. Needs to be more reliable and quicker for sure

Hi I have a weird issue where the time is in 12 hr format in the system but the home page with the weather widget and the time in the bottom right corner both show 24hr format. Any idea how to change the home page time to 12hr format?

Hi, why do you never test the ability to make phone calls on AI boxes with SIM card slots?
Theoretically there is no need to connect my phone at all on such devices and in my opinion would a main advantage against simple wireless carplay or aa adapters.
M.I.C. CarPlay HDMI Box for example can do this and probably others, too.

I have a problem.now i have a carlinkit box but when i have this conected i cant receive phonecalls on my bluetooth car system(skoda octavia mk3).is a prolem with my device or is normal for this android ai box?for me.is no use if i have music on youtube when i am.driving but if i receive a phonecall is not going to my Bluetooth car system and i hear only phone ringing in the pocket...so any advice?

I have my MMB Max for months and love it. Yesterday AT&T suspended my Sim saying that the MMB Max IMEI is 3g. I found no way to check the IMEI . Anyone else with this issue?
