When people were duped into thinking margarine was healthier than real butter and sugar was good for you is where the western world turned completely up side down.

When people say you can't live without carbs and I just mentioned that I've been carb free for 15 months and not only I'm still alive but my health improved by a ton!

Nobody believes me when I tell them carbs are non essential and completely not required in the human diet. I don’t even bother talking about food choices anymore. I just eat my steak in peace!

Like Dr Bright said "carbs are entertainment not nutrition".

I agree with you but it’s so hard when eating out. You still have to pay the same when you’ve said “no bun no fries etc” and I hate having to explain myself. I just prefer to eat at home. Thanks for your helpful advice

I had a session with an ADA dietician who insisted I have at least 40 grams of carbs at every meal? apparently their advice is to sell more insulin.

Carnivore 3 years, and I’ve seen significant improvement in my health — and I’m in my 70s — can’t believe how well I look and feel. Aging in reverse. ❤

Wow, so many comments here sound like talking points from the BBC or ABC. If you're overweight, diabetic, insulin resistant or suffer from a myriad of other ailments, low carb eating will end much suffering for most. Keep up the good work Dr. Maggs.

When I follow this way of eating, I genuinely do feel fitter and healthier and in all honesty happier!and I do loose weight quite quickly, I don’t necessarily crave sweet things after the initial first few days, but I do tend to mourn for them if that makes sense? The only concern/side effect I have is that I definitely do suffer from hair loss, which Is a worry for someone of my age, it’s at this stage that I do start eating carbs once again…

Ha! Before I even watch the rest of your video I'm going to copy a comment I just posted on a Ken Berry interview video. 👉 Awesome! Very interesting. But guess what, all I REALLY need to know, and all other human beings need to know, is that we don't want or need to ingest carbohydrates. Ya, sure, "stay hydrated", but carbs are key. Love you guys! Number one macronutrient consumed in blue zones are carbohydrates. These aren’t greasy highly processed carbohydrates but they are carbohydrates.

Yes. I went strict carnivore after years of type 2 diabetes. I started in December of 2023 and in just 2 months was off all diabetic meds and went from an A1C of 7.5 on both Metformin ans insulin injections to no meds and an A1C of 6.4. Today after just over 8 months My A1C is running about 6.2 and still slowly dropping. I lost weight from 235 to 182 pounds. My diet is Grass fed Beef burger, Fish, Butter, eggs and water. I am still losing weight and lowering my A1C. By last labs were great and my doctor said to keep doing whatever I am doing.

It always amuses me when it's said that plants contain toxins as a defence to being eaten, then show a clip of a creature that eats nothing other than plants.

Dear Dr Dan, if an athlete is doing low or no carb diets can we assume their glycogen stores are being replenished by gluconeogenisis of excess fats or proteins? I guess what Im trying to know is do keto athletes have more or less the same access to glycogen as a non-keto athlete and therefore so long as the high energy activity is over before the glycogen is depleted then they would perform similarly? For sure if the activity goes much longer the keto guy/gal will bonk and have to slow down without exogenous carb intake

Excellent information as there is so much controversy on the subject. To eat carb or not to eat carbs that’s the question😊 love how you present your answer. 👍

We may not need them but we certainly WANT them!

In normal circumstances carbohydrates may be less important but I work out using light weight ultra high reps for conditioning and some Sprint/speed running Stamina and carbohydrates really help me. Perhaps Carbohydrates are useful in certain situations...
