I love the way Discord does this endless update loop! What a cool feature they programmed into it! I'm on Linux, so none of these tutorials are very helpful. Kudos to the Discord developers!

1:04 that's cause you have the option where closing the window merely hides it to the task tray. If you wish to quit it properly, right click the discord icon in the task tray and click Quit Discord. No need for task manager acrobatics.

As for an alternative fixed that just worked for me, I noticed that there are different versions that are still on your system. I also noticed that it kept running on older instances instead of the newest version - so i simply deleted the older version, keeping the newest one. Then to launch discord, i would go inside that appfolder and find "Discord.exe" and pin to start or the taskbar, or the desktop. Doesn't force any reinstalls of updates anymore.
