When even Jocko is intimidated by someone, you know for sure Qui-Gon was right. There IS always a bigger fish.

You know the guy was a monster when Jocko says to himself: “I hope the guy doesn’t eat me.” That’s hilarious. God bless you gentlemen. 🙏🏼🇺🇸

Good to hear the shout-out for the younger generation.

A “Break glass in case of war” kind of person.

Jocko just wants to let us know there is always somebody out there stronger and larger than you who has done the same stuff. Don’t let that put fear in you

The 1st time I met SEALs in a combat zone was like me meeting Hulk Hogan and Macho Man backstage in the late 80's, early 90's, as a 4 year old. Bigger than life. Bigger than most humans. Didn't talk much. The smallest guy was 4 inches taller than me and wide as a brick house. Will never forget. 🇺🇸

Finally this clip is a clip. I’ve been looking for this for so long that actually found it myself. That 300 pound beast is my spirit animal.

Me: “A gallon of milk lasts me about a week.”
This guy: “A gallon of milk lasts me about 30 minutes.”

Jocko: "So J comes out of the gym and he's this giant dude and I'm thinking I hope that guy doesn't eat me."

Me: "Jocko, that was a mirror."

My best friend is 6'6" and around 300. He says that he is the small guy of his brothers (half-brothers). One of them was a Seal, wonder if this is who Jocko is talking about. His brother died in a car accident in Florida while in the service.

I'm glad to see a guy like Jocko tell stories. It puts a perfect amount of respect that you demand from leadership. Leadership that I hope never dies. I know it won't, because that's how much I believe in my country.

Back in the 80’s and 90’s there wasn’t a lot of combat so hazing was rampant

It’s interesting. This made me think immediately of Ben Roberts-Smith, a former Australian SAS operator who won the Victoria Cross and is Australia’s most decorated soldier (and who is also embroiled in accusations of war crimes but that’s by the by). He is 2.02cm tall or 6’7. He is still an absolute unit now but by all accounts he was similarly large while in the service. Obviously SASR is not a direct comparison to SEALs in terms of how they operated, but it still gives a sense that every so often these freaks of nature kind of defy all precedent when it comes to the physical requirements for the job.

Years ago he came to school as part of our ANZAC Day commemorations and I distinctly remember thinking “that is the largest person and the widest shoulders I have ever seen”

At the height of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, I told someone complaining about young people, “every young Soldier who enlists today KNOWS he, or she, is going to war. And yet they come.” Somebody, somewhere is doing something right.

A respectable leader respects the next generation. Love it!!!

Would have liked to see exactly how someone that big gets through BUDS. With all of the cardio and rope climbs etc. Maybe he was a lot lighter back then. I have seen some pretty big team guys though.
