Valheim LOCAL Server | How to setup Dedicated Server @Vedui42

Valheim is new great co op game, but since it's best played with friends, you need a server!

This video covers how to setup a local dedicated server for Valheim, so you can play with your friends without having to be logged into the game all the time!

It uses steam, and is quite straight forward.
I also cover how to configure it, and mention port forwarding and firewall opening.

I'm having issues due to already having a save file, first it was in the cloud, then i transferred it to local, but everytime I name it the server name, it seems the dedicated server app for valheim in their "tools" section isn't loading my previous world save and is just starting a new game with the same name as my server, its super confusing and maybe adding the steps to a guide for people with a save file already and transferring it to a dedicated self hosted server so their friends can play would be really helpful, instead of just a tutorial where you start from a dedicated server

Hello @Vedui42, I was able to do all these steps and done fowarding to 2456-2458. I also connect through my server through Steam -> Servers -> Connect -> It opens Valheim. I can play the game too on my server. However, my friends cannot join my server. It shows on Steam servers, but in their end it shows "Server not responding". I send them my EXTERNAL IP:2457.
My server port is 2456, so I told them to connect thru 2457.

Good video Vedui - what about manually adding mods to a local dedi server? All guides are for modding hosted servers

I simply can't find my server.

I want to host it on my laptop. My friend and me on another pc would join then. The server simply doesn't show up in the ingame browser. Ports are forwarded in the router. Ports are forwarded in the firewall.

I checked everything many times. No clue what's wrong.

If i check it on Steam (View-Servers-...) i'm able to see that the server is running.

Hi! I've done every step up until port forwarding step. I'm so confused I don't really know much of the technical stuff but I don't even know how to start doing that step like what to I open up to start inputting the ports????

Nice and quick. How do I add admins for server though? Need to disable the events so new friends dont get swamped by hard enemies.

Hi, awesome guide man BUT I wounder if you could show how to host a Valheim server without to buy the Valheim game in 2 accounts?
Like host server on a server and play as a normal client from your own pc. Cheers!

For some reason mine is showing up as a save file on my "start game" tab, but isn't showing up on the "online" tab. Can't figure out why.
