Every single scene with Himmel hurts. Its just pure regret. Frieren and the watchers get to know a great guy that died at the beginning of the story and keep thinking "I wish I could have gotten to know him"

Not marrying Frieren was probably Himmel's greatest regret.
It appears that it's now Frieren's too.

This lacks a bit of context, Himmel saying "We're not fairy tales, we really existed" is due to an earlier conversation they had about Flammel (Frierens's master), saying that to pretty much everyone in the world she is only a fairy tale, and even the fact of her existance is questioned, since only reproductions of her work have been ever discovered to which Frieren responds that she is one of the few who remember and actually knew Flammel.

The subtlety of Frieren's reaction when Himmel is about to tell her the real reason he has statues made shows she really cares about his opinion. Her feelings for him were always there. She just never listened to them. :(

I busted out tears every time Himmel appears, like you can see how fond Himmel was of Frieren and now through Frieren‘s action, how fond he was to her..

I’m not really into this kind of genre but this hits different…

Himmel motivation to make the statues, was probably because of that one scene fromt he flashbacks, where Frieren said she was the only one that remembered her master.

Himmel so often was speaking to the future Frieren. Knowing she'll look back. That little elf was lucky to have met such wise humans in her life.

The calmness in his voice, its like he understands how frieren will feel probably a 1000 year more into the future

Even without referencing the conversation about Flamme, this scene still hits so hard. At the end of day, Himmel wanted her to remember their faces and know they reall existed, no matter how much time has passed.
