Agreed!! Had a friend who worked at a luxury car dealership for several years. Said often the people who came in dressed in average clothes actually had real money.

I just walked in and told them I didn't have the money but just wanted to see one up close. They were polite as can be and even let me sit in a few.

so basically
1- dont wear fancy clothes
2- dont rush it
3- fake it til you make it
4- have a good reason for car
5- let them bring up taking it for a test ride

Even Honda sales staff ask what do you do for a living. All dealers whether cars are expensive or not try and size you up.

Like everything else: the harder you try, the more obvious is appears.

Richest guy I've ever personally known looked homeless most of the time and drove an old beat up truck. $300 million net worth and probably a billionaire by now bc he was a young man at that time.

He had exotics but rarely drove them.

I once had a customer who looked no different than your average hobo, untamed beard, wearing a washed out flanno shirt with torn up jeans. When we got chatting I invited him to sit in one of the new Mercedes-Benz models we had in the show room. After sitting in the driver's seat for a little bit, both of his sleeves pulled up as he grabbed onto the steering wheel revealing a rare Patek-Phillipe watch on one arm that was worth more than the car he was sitting in 😅 We built good rapport and he even let me wear the watch for a while and ended up purchasing one of the cars.
That's why you never judge a book by its cover, and remember to always show compassion and genuine interest in everyone. 💯

I am a Mexican American and I went into a Lamborghini dealer dressed like a regular guy and I got to test drive a gallardo. It was fun except that it broke down about two miles from the dealership. Me and the salesman had to stand there waiting for another salesperson to pick us up and every car that drove by were laughing at us. One guy actually shouted “you should have bought a Toyota”. I will never forget it…….and for the haters out there yes it really happened.

Growing up my best friend‘s father who was like a second father to me, was worth 15 -20 million yet he drove a 1980 broken down van ripped up jeans and a flannel shirt not one piece of jewelry you would never know it, but this guy lives in a mansion with 20 acres of property owns but never drives a brand new S550 Mercedes. Some people are just cut from a different cloth. He was particularly different old-school Italian came over from Italy when he was 15 he passed away last year. He was someone incredibly special to me that I would never forget. I love him like a second father and will miss him forever.

Poor people finally being told that luxury goods are priced for them.
4 thousand dollar bag and 1000 dollars shoes are priced just low enough that a poor person can save and splurge and think they have money

A salesman recent gave me a pretty intense interrogation and asked a bunch of slick questions like _"is your asset portfolio diversified in case the futures market sees a downward turn after the election?"_ After 10 minutes of that grilling, I had to tell him _"DUDE! IT'S A F%CKING _*_USED HYUNDAI_*_ I'M TEST DRIVING! JUST GO GET THE F%CKING KEYS!!"_

It's not like a Lamborghini salesman has much else to do. Those cars aren't flying off the floor. You never know people these days. If you upset someone by ignoring them and not letting them test drive, you may very well end not getting a sale later. It takes little effort to be nice, and it can have nice rewards.

In NY, it was exceptionally rare. Non-buyers were very timid. Buyers didn’t want to waste time.
