Показать описание
Polaris Dawn is a crew mission aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon Spacecraft. The Polaris Dawn crew (Commander Jared Isaacman, Pilot Scott Poteet, and Mission Specialists Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon) will spend up to five days in orbit, flying higher than any Dragon mission to date and will attempt to reach the highest Earth orbit flown since the Apollo program. The Polaris Dawn crew will support scientific research designed to advance both human health on Earth and our understanding of human health during future long-duration spaceflight, be the first to test Starlink laser-based communications in space, and will attempt the first spacewalk from any Commercial Spacecraft.

Please consider donating to St. Jude in honor of this mission:

If you ever get a chance to do so, even if it's just Starlink, go see one of these live. One of the best things ever.

Sorry to say I had to go to work once the new launch time was published; I'm back; laid out like tripe on my sofa catching up with NSF coverage with a beer. This is a huge event in so many ways-confidence in the "private space mission option"; for SpaceX; for us that try to follow everything occuring within the space industry...etc. I'm so grateful to feel a part of this community and be able to catch up whenever opportunities arrive. Thank you all at NSF. I'm proud of your efforts; quality video and photographic coverage and usually sometimes funny commentary. Wilbo

Jared Issacman is already in the history books. I like that he didn't start his own space company but partners with someone who's already doing the work to accelerate their progress instead.

I live across the river from the VAB. We see the launches from our yard or the river.
It's spectacular every time. The crewed launches are a VERY big thing here on the SpaceCoast!🇺🇲💪😎

I’ve been waiting for this one. A really exciting lunch this morning. Coffee and a rocket launch, how good is that? Good luck, Polaris Dawn .

I didn't get to watch it live, we've been a bit stressed out by our fires, and I needed some sleep. Thanks for this stream @NASASpaceflight for your work bringing this stream to us! I can't wait to see the spacewalk!!
