Break testing will have the rope failing on the outside where the end of the rope is that is inside.
To eliminate this failure point taper the end before drawing it back inside. You will know that your work is done correctly when you can no longer feel, on the outside, where the end of the rope is that is on the inside.

If you plan on using a splice for anything other than decoration don't do it this way.

A real eye splice is tougher to do but so much safer than whatever this is.

You need to sew through your Splice to make it secure...

This is NOT a locked splice, and should not be used for anything where coming apart might cause concern (like falling off a cliff, or losing a boat anchor).

Insufficient bury, should be 72x diameter. Bury should be tapered.

Is there a way of doing a back splice so you don't have a loop?

What's the weight-rating for that loop and does that rating depend on how long the "doubled-up" section is? Also how does the loop do at holding an intermittent load?

I wouldn't use or trust this technique. At the very least, there needs to be a locking Brummel.

Do not use this for water sports. It will fail.
