Little Writing

I stumbled across the concept of little writing a few years ago.

No, I don't mean ornate, cursive prose.

Write a little every day, instead of a lot somedays.

You see...

Why sweat trying to write a few thousand words?

Why force yourself to sit in the chair for hours?

Instead, write something short when you think of it.

Record an exciting idea.

A single sentence.

A few bullet points.

An entire paragraph.

Bang it out on your phone.

Build a little library of little notes and ideas.

And add to it every day.

Then...

Read through your notes when you've a little more time.

Return to a few older ideas.

Add to them them.

And slowly...

Your little ideas will grow.

They'll flourish.

And you'll have something you can publish.

Good advice. Also, a point on the back of this: You’ll often get into a kind of flow state and write much more than 300 words in that session.

I’m averaging around 1.5k words a day. It’s my first book so I’m really trying my best
