Wow great work by Anthony and Debbie - IDK most of the construction material of a refrigerator could be saved!!
Was looking for metal recycling - glad I found this video.

Very cool. I make good money picking up scrap metal and bringing it to my local scrap yard. I've often wondered how they separate intertwined metals like aluminum and steel when they are cast together. Now I have an answer. This was great to watch and makes me feel good that I am part of helping reduce damage to the environment by scrapping.

An excellent explanation of recycling outdated household refrigerators.  Thank you!

Now if only we could end planned obsolescence, and start building products that last, instead of endlessly building and in most cases throwing away things that should last lifetimes.

Thank you. Very informative. I sold few years ago about 1200 kg different kind of metals. I bought an old farm and there was plenty of trash. Mainly iron. Even rusty items were accepted. The representative of the company told that they deliver metals mainly to Turkey! My old metal items might be now steel somewhere in Turkey? They told that the copper has now a good price/kg. It is great that they will recycle metals so well. Saves nature.

Love this. Steel and ironworks are such an integral part of modern society and this is such a necessary part of that lifecycle. Much appreciated all!

Yeah I’ve worked on big machines like this.

The drying screw is not a conveyor, it’s a giant screw that’s heated. Removing any moisture or oils from the metals. If it was a conveyor like the cartoon suggests why would the shaft be round and say SCREW on the side lol

The machines I worked on was for metal shavings, separating the oils from steel shavings from machine shops .

Big brain stuff lol 🥸

Great explanation. The music also had me thinking I was playing a game while watching. SWTOR perhaps.

I scrap refrigerators often... i always remove the compressor (pumpkin) and the copper. On a lot of refrigerators open the door on the right side under the plastic is a copper line running up to the freezer. 😉

Anything & Everything I learn about metal, scrap etc is worth knowing. Even if I'm trying to find something specific. Thx!

Does anyone know what happens to the gases once they’ve been turned liquid with the liquid nitrogen??

No recycling of the plastic powder..its a big problem that one. A lot of bags, more to come..

The liquid nitrogen, and drying, seem so energy-intensive that I wonder if the net gain is worth it?
