The dismay in the audience is the icing on this play

It amazes me, how I can watch baseball my whole life, and still learn something new. A kid's bat and ball game played like it was chess.

Pete Rose once did something similar. Playing 1st base for the Phillies, it was a close play, the fielder threw it way over Pete's head. Instead of reacting to the throw over his head, Pete kept his glove down as if he were about to catch a throw right on the money. From the umpire's call, the runner knew he was safe, but stayed at first, having been fooled by Pete into believing he had beat out a close play. That hesitation by the runner allowed the second baseman to retrieve the errant throw. By the time the runner realized the ball had been thrown away, he was unable to advance to second. The announcers immediately recognized Pete Rose's heads up play that fooled the runner into staying at first rather than advancing to second on the wild throw, which he easily could have done. More evidence of the greatness of Pete Rose.

Pitcher played it off perfectly by pretending to trip causing an errant throw 😂

My old man played high school ball in the late 50s/early 60s, he said the guidance to pitchers when a player tries to steal third and you're behind it, aim for batter and hard. You may not get the out, but you'll send the runner back to third if it gets there first.

The pitcher is brilliant. I didn’t know about this rule

That pitch just followed the batter. Everyone on the opposing team looks demoralized and confused. The pitcher gives up the base but not a run, and he gets to hit the opposing team with the ball on purpose, and be praised for it. Kudos.

I remember the game where the Yankees were playing the Twins, I believe. A-Rod was on second base and the batter popped up. As A-Rod was jogging from second to third, he called out "I got it" between the second baseman and the shortstop. Neither one caught the ball thinking it was the other one that called for it. Everyone ended up safe. People hated A-Rod and said it was a bushleague play, but to me, that showed incredible situational awareness and an incredibly high baseball IQ.

Muy bien el pitcher, jugando para el equipo Así como cuando un bateador se pone intencionalmente para que una bola adentro le golpee y obtener un avance de bases....es justo😊

Intentionally throwing at the batter is against the rules. Doesn't matter if it's out of anger/retaliation or to affect an outcome in the play, the result is supposed to be automatic ejection.
