I wanted to let you know after watching several of your videos you gave me the confidence to try to make a hatch that my boat manufacturer said they would not make for me. I followed your process and I was surprised at how good the hatch came out. I want to thank you for giving people like me the confidence to try something they are not familiar with.

Everyone else makes such a big deal about projects like this, and you just showed me how stupid easy it really is. Thank you!

This video is eight years old and I still got just as excited as you in real time about the PVA film. I've got to go make something now. Awesome job!

I feel I need to say this. I know you primarily are dealing with boats, but the majority of what you are teaching here can easily be utilized in the automotive craft as well, in addition to several other trades. I am using several of the techniques you have presented here on your channel, to make parts, specifically fender skirts, for my car. They can also be used to make hood scoops, fender flares, even full fenders, hoods, door skins, and other parts! Thank you for your experience and showing us, soooo many of us, how to put them to use! Peace!

Great video, and now I know where I failed on my last attempt; however, making a mold would be an awesome addition to the video list.  Thank you for being thorough in your videos!

making the mold would definitely be a good video since that is often the most important piece in creating a great final product.

I like it when at the end of the project you can show a before and after shot. It really illustrates how nice a job you did. Enjoyed it.

This is so cool. I'm actually making fiberglass body armor, but all that you did here is still SUPER applicable for what I'll be making.

That PVA was awesome. I grew up around auto body work and only saw a small amount of glass work. I really like your videos. I am working on a few small sail boats now.

It is true, the only concern I have with that advice is that I've experienced my models retracting from the mold and causing airholes underneath when I get back a couple days later. Its best to lay all the gelcoats and fibreglass in fast succession.

My first part came out great! Followed your instructions and everything worked great. Second time around, i cut corners and ruined my mold! Lessons learned

Hi, jut wanted to let you know how helpful your videos are for someone who just got into boating and is making their own repairs.

This looks like a great idea for making my custom hood scoop for my 78 Suburban. I was thinking of making it in metal and then welding it onto the hood, but this looks like an easy alternative to building from metal and having to do a lot of hammer and dolly work.

I need to do this with 5 hatch-covers and I not only now have the confidence to do it but I am eagerly looking forward to it.

8 years ago… 8 years ago I probably watched this when I was bored and not understanding the full process.
And there’s 2024 I bought a boat a year ago and I decided to build stuff for my 1968 boat 😂
