Lower hips always win. This is a nice *dave Chappelle voice* “gotcha bitch” set up.

A-FREAKING-MAZING!!!! I absolutely LOVE moves that I have never seen before or have never even thought of doing before. This is fight science right here.

Russian 2:1 is one of my favorite position, just so many options.

I’ve actually never seen it done this way but I like it. I used to do it without the front head lock attempt by pinning it to their chest and timing their side step. It was more of a roll than a throw, but baiting the front hl makes it so much easier. Noice.

Would this be a good reversal for a guillotine in BJJ?

Really nice throw, I work a lot off of Russian Tie’s and have rarely had guys attempt a front headlock on me from that position before.

The teacher in this video is pretty muscle bound and looks like somebody who could land a kinetic move like this in real competition. If your stature is thinner and with comparatively longer limbs, the Russian Tie presents a lot of nice setups to drag takedowns. You can also exhaust your opponent with the Russian Tie in a two on one hand fighting situation (my two hands control my opponents one arm and give me access to one full half of my opponent’s body).
