We have a housing crisis and the two houses next to me have been left empty for almost two years. Our street was targeted by companies looking to buy up these properties and many sold. I remember coming home from vacation and seeing so many letters in the box inquiring about purchasing the house (it was like how most people get credit card offers through their post box).

On point. My parents moved from council housing to buying and so did I. I also lost my property after 15yrs after Cameron got Daniel Blake, there has been plenty of us

@James O'Brien, please check out this clip below from the RationalNational, in response to your post, the statistics actually shows that by housing homeless people, besides being just more humane and compassionate, literally saves the government tons of money!!!!

Says a lot that Corbyn suggests a policy that on its surface 'sounds' pie in the sky and then in the space of one or two phone calls we establish from sound data that it's legitimate and then after months of Brexit calls we still can't establish it as a positive.

Really gets the noggin joggin'.

It seems like James is reading the DailyMail interpretation rather than the actual policy again. There are examples of this type of policy in Canada the EU and elsewhere. It's not "pie in the sky", it's an effective solution, and saves money. FFS.

Is he going to give the key to homeless people? Or is he going to set up shelters that will be managed by local authorities or housing charities? If it's the latter, James' whole argument is a massive strawman. EDIT Ok, 1st caller says this.

It's clear that we cannot continue as we are for the sake of those who don't have a home to go to. *Something* needs to be done to help them. It isn't simply a case of pulling homeless people off the street and plopping them in a home as an isolated policy, I would fully expect Corbyn to increase spending in mental health services and such.

That first caller also made a really good case, in general.
