I think you have the cable type backwards in your description. You have a USB-C to display port cable, not the other way around. Display port doesn't convert to any other topology with a simple cable; however, a USB-C connection can be used by your computer to drive a display port device.

Is there any disadvantage using usb C supporting display port compare to the real desktop (on gpu) display port solution? I think that laptop usb C/display port 1.4 goes throgh chipset not directly to GPU...

USB c is not givving me signal to monitor. Idk why. i have usb c 3.1 (gen 1, dp 1.2 only). Might it be because of the cable is dp 1.4?

I just bought the same cable. But cant seem to get it to work from the port in the back but only on left side. Would be better if ibwas able to have it in the back. Any idea why its not working?
