I'm trying to add exercises, while lowering the number of sets for each one, like you talked about in one of your recent videos. I'm really liking the results! I still feel like the muscles are getting good stimulus and it's less of a mental drag than thinking about doing 5-6 sets of something. Plus, it's always great to hit muscles from different angles, so it checks that box, too.

I returned to serious bodybuilding in 2014 after a long holding pattern of just fitness lifting. When I came back I made great gains real quick, way beyond what I achieved as a kid, but I seemed to become a victim of success with a really dramatic fall in recuperation as I got bigger, forcing me to shorten the workouts (fewer body parts / exercises per workout) just so I could cope with the same volume and intensity. Now my body has settled on just 3 body parts for 45 min 3 times a week, and just one exercise per body part for 8-16 reps. This is providing great gains, but I know this will change again and again, because I am ONLY JUST able to cope, even with this. So for me the secret has been a repeated cycle of protecting my recuperative ability as I get older. Doing some moderate cardio on the bike seems to help too . . .
