Fun fact: I think the industry is down in the US where there was a giant bubble, in latinamerica business is booming cause companies realized they could hire remote workers for much less

Of course you were the crash course kids girl. Like there was any doubt. my four year old daughter watched you and CCK incessantly for three years during the pandemic. From 3 to 6 man. A lot. Over and Over. I still have that intro tune stuck in my head. I hear it now and it triggers me but in a good way. So many good memories at a really bad time.

CCK was my very young daughter’s introduction to science and engineering. She is 8 now and learning to code. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate that series. You absolutely nailed that one.

My head canon is that you were genuinely surprised realizing that you were the host for the intro to programming course. It was your split personality that did it.

“Is that the Crash Course Kids girl”😭
Edit: as someone who was around when you vlogged the experience of filming some of those, I legit thought that was a joke until the end😅

I will take it because you're such a very good teacher. I have learned so much from you over the years that I have you on both of my phones. Thank you💛💛💛💛🍒🍒🇯🇲

Hard agree! Thinking like a programmer changed everything for me. My AS is in computer science and my BS is in ecology. That combination has absolutely restructured how I think and solve problems in the world. Right now, I do tech support, and both help. In the future, I could do any number of things!

some people are content with solutions they don't understand to problems they don't understand, but in general it's more valuable to understand how to do something as opposed to just assuming the solution you have is the best and will always work.

It's so weird every time I hear about my college on youtube. Good job ASU, you became a big enough deal WHILE I ATTENEDED to be mentioned by almost all my favorite content creators.

I took Python in college as an elective and ran a coding club at my library using a program similar to Scratch and honestly hard agree. Putting the effort to learn the basic concepts of coding even if it's just in the form of block coding really builds transferable skills.

This feels like that one idea that the structure database is the structure of the company

I am an ASU student. I took CSE 110 (Code and Programming for Beginners) in Fall of 2020. The class was called Principles of Programming then though. It was a very fun class! I'm not sure that I would recommend Java to everyone though. JavaScript is more widely used. That or Python. The options for us ASU students were Java or C++ when I took the class.

Programming is constant, unending problem solving. Who needs any other kind of practice when you can spend tons of hours figuring out why your code got 1 + 1 = 2

I have no interest in working in IT but I’m so happy I learned the basics of programming and creating websites. It’s really fun trying to think of how to solve problems through code. Only thing I hate is never being able to make my website design match what I had in my head because CSS is my nightmare lol

I took it this last semester and I’m so glad I did! Your videos were such a fun intro to each chapter

The ideas and critical thinking skills you get from programming is enough of an incentive to learn how to code than any job opportunity you’d get imo

It helps in problem solving, so certainly yes

Totally agree. While most coders fear the AI revolution taking their jobs away, the main takeaway from learning how to code is the problem solving and logical reasoning skills that you polish as you code increasingly more complex apps. Of course, if you learn how to do it well enough to the point you can **develop** AI frameworks, you're gonna be irreplaceable!
